Major Impacts and Benefits

• Phase 1 Investment of nearly $50 million in developing and constructing a race track and casino in Raton. Phase 2 estimated investment of approximately $75 -$100 million in developing a hotel, Truck Stop, RV Park, Rodeo and Equestrian Centers.
• Inspire the revitalization of Raton’s main thoroughfare.
• Act as a catalyst for small support business and job creation in the immediate area.
• Inspire further investment into the community of Raton.
• Approximately 100 construction workers will be employed over a 12 to 18 month period.
• A large portion of construction monies would be spent locally on construction supplies.
• The Phase 1 facility, when fully operational, will create over 300 full time and part time wage and salary jobs.
• The Racetrack and Casino would become the single largest employer in the town and county.
• The forecasted $7 million Phase 1 annual payroll would almost equal present cumulative community payroll dollars.
• The facility will act as a “tourist magnet” within the Five State Area and will contribute greatly to Raton’s further defining itself as a “tourist destination” within the region.
• The facility will directly contribute to the increase of overnight stays by visitors.
• Increased tourist activity will generate more activity and opportunity within Raton’s downtown.
